INDIVIDUALIZED HRT

As a member of the North American Menopause Society we are always receiving the most updated information in regards to the best way to personalize hormone replacement therapy or HRT for women.  Although many women may have been told as a hard and fast rule that there is a certain age that they have to stop taking HRT the reality is that it really should be a personalized decision for each woman.  It is actually possible to continue HRT as you age even past your 60's depending on your particular set of circumstances so I encourage every woman to seek out the advice of a hormonal specialist on this topic to ensure that they are getting the best advice for their clinical needs.

This month the North American Menopause Society has produced a video that discusses the safety and risk of hormonal therapy use in women 65 or older.  In this video, Extended Hormone Therapy Use, Dr. Shapiro interviews Dr. Cynthia Stuenkel, Past President of NAMS, an internist, endocrinologist, and reproductive endocrinologist at the University of California, San Diego.  Please enjoy!
